The paths

The paths touch all the major tourist attractions of Tuscany such as Florence, Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano, Greve, Castellina and Gaiole in Chianti.

Winding gravel roads and on roads with little transited always in the midst of an exceptional nature and breathtaking views.

The total distance of the route is about 770 km: 7 stages of 110 km per day, about 300 km of white roads.

Participants will manage the tour at your own pace because the organization does not provide any guide or escort.

The period

The periods in which you can participate in “La Via dei Titani” are as follows:

  1. March-April – May – the first fortnight of June
  2. Second fortnight of September to October

This excludes periods with bridges or special holidays and the week before Sunday Eroica.
The start date of the tour can be chosen any day of the week.

Useful tips

The tour is quite challenging, but it is not a competitive event and having a whole day available, it is feasible to all types of cyclists; you can do it even partially with alternative and reduced routes, always tracked with GPS.
As a tour stage involves the return in the same starting structure, you can possibly take a day off.

The paths have been tested in difficult weather conditions and are all passable with road bike with tires from 23; for those not using the Mountain Bike and for the less experienced advise you to put tires to 26 or even 28, possibly tessellated to be safer in bad weather.

As reports suggest the compact 34/50 with the sprockets 27/28; for the less energetic are preferable the three chainrings.

For those who opt to make the tour without an accompanying car, the advice is to not take too much luggage: some parts, a suit for the evening and a swimsuit given that most of the structures has a swimming pool.

You can also rent bikes, even with pedal assistance (with the latest battery generation).
